Polypropylene sheets are categorized into pure polypropylene sheets, extruded polypropylene sheets, and fiberglass-reinforced polypropylene sheets. Pure polypropylene sheets are low in density, easy to weld, and non-toxic and odorless. Polypropylene process sheets are made by adding various energy-saving additives to polypropylene resin. Fiberglass-reinforced polypropylene sheets offer better heat resistance and low-temperature impact resistance than ordinary polypropylene sheets, making them particularly suitable for applications in the petroleum, pesticide, and wastewater treatment industries.
Among commonly used plastics, PP has the best heat resistance, with a heat distortion temperature of 80-110℃. It is the only plastic that can be heated in a microwave oven (marked with number 5) and will not deform in boiling water.
Commonly known as "folding adhesive", PP can withstand hundreds of thousands of repeated folds at room temperature without breaking. It is often used to manufacture one-piece molded hinged caps (such as bottle cap joints).
PP is one of the lowest density varieties of general-purpose plastics (approximately 0.90 g/cm³), which means that for the same weight, products made of PP can be manufactured in larger volumes or with lighter weights, which helps reduce logistics costs.
PP exhibits excellent stability against most acids, alkalis, salts, and organic solvents (except for strong oxidizing agents), making it ideal for use as chemical containers, laboratory equipment, and cleaning agent packaging.
PP is physiologically inert, does not contain bisphenol A (BPA), is non-toxic and odorless, and is recognized as one of the safest food-grade packaging materials. It is widely used in baby bottles, drinking cups and food boxes.
PP has extremely low water absorption (less than 0.01%), excellent waterproof and moisture-proof properties, and can effectively block water penetration and keep the contents dry.
PP has good melt flowability and a large but regular molding shrinkage rate, making it easy to process into various complex shapes of industrial products through injection molding, extrusion, or blow molding, resulting in high production efficiency.
By 2025, the PP recycling system will be very mature, with a relatively low carbon footprint and the ability to be recycled multiple times, which aligns with modern green packaging and sustainable industrial trends.
